Wish I didn't see that link. The gauge in the pick reads 350NM. Do you think it may have a hope of cracking loose my 1198 wheel nuts, 180 and 220nm. For the easy one I use 2 people, the gearbox or timber in wheel and a 6 foot pipe on breaker bar, rear brake and a few swear words before it comes off.

weather is shaping up nicely
16/24
5% chance of 1mm
very light wind
Saw the usual faces today. MStevo, Stu23 and Carl-52. Had fun with Mick J during the last session.
Wasn't too bad conditions today.
Was out today just working on lines corner speed and being smooth. Rear was completely shot.
Some really fast guys out there like Goldie, Aaron Morris, Condon and Alex Cudlin was out there too. Only see them for one corner and then they're gone!!
Bring on next week!
There was a reserved TT garage today ... was very quiet in there ... I spoke with Rich and he said he would leave up the reserved garage signs for Mon as well. Garages 31 & 32 - I left my bike and gear locked in there too.
See you there tomorrow. I'm so pumped.

How'd the bike feel with all the new suspension bits Rick?

Cool, so we know where to head to. Although my idea with TT was always (and still is) to not have a 'reserved' sign at all, but rather have an 'all welcome' sign and some flyers. We mostly all met by randomly sharing a garage at a track day or race meet, and by excluding people that aren't already members, we will not grow and meet new friends.
We all know where to meet now, so lets rip the signs down first thing tomorrow

We invited several guys in when they asked, only other TT regular was John B. Gee those s1000's chew tyres John
Awesome Nick, it is like a totally different bike! The suspension means T1 is not as hairy as it use to be on just preload, under brakes dive to stops has gone, good turn in, can put bike where I want it pretty consistent. The QS is cheating, Dan is going to have to get one, just makes it insanely easy to ride. Good drive with new sprockets and chain, and the UK Ntecs are like shit to a blanket, front never pushed once. I will be very surprised if I don't set some significantly better PB's next week.
I'm might copy your fork settings tomorrow to get a base line. Keen to hear all about it!
do a burnout
that's annoying I went straight to 35/37 as that's what I had reserved... owel
Like marshy reckons though, no more reserves for me I am just going to shed up in 35/37 from now on
Ha that was a great day everyone!!! Sssshhh dont tell stu23, but i could have actually had a go at passing him into turn 6!!! (im faster than him from 6 through the new section) Stuck with dad "pushing" (obviously not quite up to speed) for about 4 laps then got stuck in traffic! Thanks to Nelso for the tips and watching me ride/giving me something to follow (have you seen Oggy's photos on fb??). Passed Alex Cudlin twice!!!! (he was coaching, but it still counts) Also, Mum and Sisters timing has always been accurate and they got me at 2:13 with traffic!! SOOOO Stoked with that improvement as i was doing 2:18's last time and its only my 5th time ever on a Roadbike!!
Judo boy timing! Haha
Soon you'll be gridding up next to us in no time.
I pity your dad.... So much money
Mum and Sister have been timing for about 10 years now!!!! so they are accurate within a tenth of a second!! Not too expensive, i contribute as much as i can, using old tires, etc etc Most of the time we go 50/50 with costs. Could move up to Red with those times, but talking to Nelso, Dad and Alex we all thought it was best not to move up untill i am carving up green group making quick confident passes. You have another few days yet chubb, then ill be chasing you :P
timing maybe not quite a 10th ! but within 1/2 a second easy...... and yes they have , mum has , been timing for a long time ! I like the work a day, ride a day, yes it helps with the $$
Hey Nick, hope the PEPS scuffs buff out, and a few other things get fixed, so you come out next week to St George with two bikes again. So glad you pulled out the spare and finished the day ... how long's it been off the bike ... must be a month?
I had a great day today (27/1/14) ... really built on yesterday in learning how to get the most out of my "reborn Gixa". I reckon it's now several seconds faster, and I know it's way easier to ride, can hit the same spot on the track pretty consistently now, with the old suspension it was always +- 0.5m.
I'm going to be really interested to see how far I can break into the 1:4X's at St George ... my race PB from last round was a 1:50.x. that QS has to be worth a couple of seconds, the suspension a couple more, and the new sprocket / chain / gearing with ntec tyres at least another.
Now I just need to find a new fuel cap, talk about stoopid! :-)
Thanks, I'm working my speed through T1 up slowly ... I don't want to be like the poor guy in red group that low sided at T1 today and I later helped sweep his bike onto his trailer from the recovery trailer. I'm amazed he was OK because the bike was farked ... in 101 bits.
He is getting so much help from so many people, its quite amazing to see. Kids just soak up this stuff and get to it, he and I are quite lucky to have friends such as you all
That happened right in front of me as I left the pits. He had slowed quite a bit by the time he hit the dirt, so he rolled a few times and jumped up, but the bike just destroyed itself. It looked (as it cartwheeled) that there was nothing left attached from the main frame back (subframe, swingarm, rear wheel). But hey, looks can be deceiving - my turn 1 crash left hardly any damage at all to the bike. Just damage to me.

What happened front end tucked or ran wide?
Thanks mate, I don't think it's too bad, hopefully. I really appreciate your help carting my stuff into the trailer (when I had a hissy fit and wanted to take my bat and ball and go home) and then back out into the garage again once I'd rethought it.
Hey, how's this for an awesome wife - I'm totally packed, trailer locked up, sitting in the driver's seat with the engine running and just waiting for the air con to cool the car down enough to shut the door and drive home, when I ring the wife and tell her I crashed AGAIN and that I'm leaving to come home, and she says no, don't do that. Can you fix the bike?, she says. Nope, not at the track. Got your spare bike? Yes, but it needs fairings fitted and a couple of minor things. Well, pull it out of the trailer, set it up and get back out there! Racing is less than a week, and you need to get back on the bike, TODAY! I humbly agreed to do so, and the afternoon was awesome on the old racebike.

That Suzuki was destroyed ... it had "Suzuki sheered off wheels", the swing arm was a separate part ... I doubt there was a single salvageable part ... maybe the gas tank as it didn't seem to be leaking fuel. I hate watching cartwheeling bikes, especially if they belong to you.
Even bikes spinning on their side is painful to watch (when they are yours), especially with shiny new fairings
I thought the bike was an R1 at the time, but there was so little attached to it as it spun through the air that it was impossible to tell for sure. Poor guy; I feel for him.
So it's conclusive, then? Suzukis newer than, what, 06? are unsuitable for track riding, as they disintegrate on impact.

Solid steel. Not so good for speed but sure helps if you decide to separate mid-corner.
Was great to be back out after 3months on the sideline. My pace wasn't exciting but just getting the feel again was fantastic.
do a burnout
You've still got a bit of time before he will get to your pace and by then, you will have dropped a few more seconds yourself. What is amazing to us oldies, is how fast you lot improve. The speed that Carl has after only 5 days is rediculous and you got up to the faster end of the grid in no time. Makes me wish I had started racing 25 years ago.

Most definitely was the tow, it helped me turn later and harder... I never had me knee down on every corner in the new section before (all the way from 6 to Old 8).
Even when Nelso started to chase Alex and Stu23, they were moving away from me but i still had something to chase. I just need to get past the traffic a bit quicker to keep up.
Hope the bikes OK Nick, damage doesn't look too bad... Turn 5 claimed quite a few bikes over the 3 days.
And Chubb, your just getting quicker and quicker, team up with someone and get the to follow you/you follow them. Its invaluable!!
scarey thing is Rob, hes doing all this on my old r10 ex race tyres !!! he came in after the 1st session saying theres something wrong with the tyre, its sliding a lot and he got a funny vibration / bouncy feel out of the rear .. Im thinking gearbox, wheel out of balance, we took it apart had it re balanced, seemed all good, i took it for a quick run up the paddock, felt alright.... after the next session he says feels good, still a little slidy, i think i might have been braking hard and getting the rear off the ground a lot !! kids !!!
and this was after i informed him EC is a little slippery on cool mornings for the 1st session

Yes and no..
getting a tow only gets you so far.. I was having a good chat with Wade about this on Sunday.
It helps because you get to watch what the faster riders are doing (lines, braking and turn points etc - I was watching Sean Condon and Aaron Morris for like one or two corners then they are gone!) so you can emulate their lines etc.
It doesn't help because their bike is different from yours, what they are doing might be slightly different to how they are on the bike whether you have to feel like everything is rushed to keep up with the faster rider.
You might be able to keep up when you're rushing everything going brake brake brake brake gas gas gas gas and nothing is kept smooth and you get the odd 2.05s here and there but no consistency and possibility of crashing is high.
The 4th and 5th sessions for me the tyre was spinning and spitting and I was getting the shits and doing 2.09s 2.10s
After Wade and I talked he told me to just be smooth and concentrate but stay relaxed.
6th session with pretty much tyre past the wear markers, I just went out with Mick J and went meh I'll just have some fun and we were banging out 2.07s-2.08s. I didn't feel like I was trying at all and I still had some in reserve incase of anything that might happen on the track.
p.s the you isn't actually aimed at you its more in general of what I think anyway.. my 2 cents
Yeh i get ya Chubb, when i was following Nelso, Rusty and Stu23 i made sure i didnt start rushing things to keep up. If they pulled away they pulled away. Its funny though, because i said the exact same thing for the last two sessions, just going out to have some fun Having them come out and purposefully follow you helps alot though, you come back in and they confirm theories to try or correct small issues
Another thing that helps Carl, is seeing yourself riding. Camera bike in front and/or behind plus on bike gives you a lot of perspective. Maybe get along to ardc day. Doing very well by the way

Thanks senator8! For Dirt tracking we use the gopro and study the videos when we get home, and yes it does help alot (pick up all the little mistakes and how i could deal with it next time). Was thinking of being cheeky and mounting a camera inside the bodywork somewhere with a hole in it, its a shame you cant use them at SMSP days. ARDC might be the go soon, but at the moment im liking not having to pay for the trackdays (staff)...
ask Mstevo about cameras inside the bodywork..
Heh I had a marshal come around looking for a guy who had been reported to have a camera in his bike. Grilled me for a while telling me the consequences of having one until he spotted Marks's yellow bike on the other side of the garage and realised he was the culprit. Think he just had to tape it over.
Pronounced Kang-Ah not Kang-Gah
yep after 2 or 3 previous days they saw it during scrutineering (I've never tried to hide it), and came looking for me before the riders brief and asked me to tape it over, I said no worries as i only really use it for racing and I asked do you want me to cover the rear one as well, he rolled his eyes and and nodded yes.... lol
My cameras are integrated through the bike and picks up some of the bikes telemetry as well as timing
