Not if all the bikes book in early
Sadly, I need to cover my class which is near impossible as nobody wants to take them and then provide special, foolproof work for them to make it easier on the replacement teacher; and then they still go feral when I'm not there and create havoc, so I have to pick up the pieces when I get back and then deal with the complaints from the boss. The problem with running your own class is it's like running your own business, everything falls apart if you're not there and it's you that pays for it in the end.

Life's too Short- YOLO!
If everyone got themselves sorted and booked in large numbers, say at least 80 bikes, then we would probably have the day to ourselves with groups according to experience like it used to be in the old days. Why not pick a date that suits most people and pre book the day en mass well in Advance?
How about 31st January on the GP Circuit or 5th April which is a Saturday on the GP Circuit. If we all booked for the Saturday now and booked the day out we could have just bikes.
I've been wanting to organise this for a while now, so thanks for taking the initiative!! Anyone? Bueller?
Actually, the 31st will be jam-packed with people wanting practice for St George round 1 the following two days, so I'd expect 50+ bikes regardless..... I only hope I can ride by then!!

I don't think it would be hard to get the numbers, but everyone will need to pre book to get the day up and running for just bikes. You could share the info on RATS, TARMAC, KSRC, CANBERRA RIDERS and also start a page on Facebook and share it around to get the word out.

I think the cat is out of the bag. I would rather have more bikes and 2 sessions than not enough and none
Same. It's unlikely this will be the norm rather than the exception but if they do get 40+ bikes every time they'll probably require that everyone book in prior to the day so they can separate the bikes into 2 groups... the more the merrier I think. The sport needs pushing or it will die.
Sport is already dying with some people still pushing for two premier national series.
Exactly. With the organizers doing their 'best' capping ppl at practice days won't exactly help things either.
I reckon if it gets too big at ARDC they'll start having more days with no bikes because the car guys will miss out.
Last time was dangerous IMO, every one of these days the average pace drops more and more to the point where there's people doing white group pace on supersport bikes mixed in with guys doing FX pace. MA licenses grow on trees after all you just pay your money and your a certified national level racer..
I only did two sessions, bike was playing up hard, I was lapping at low 50s and still passing people everywhere :/
From what I head, the organisers have said that if there's enough numbers they might just do bikes separate. Which then is a win-win. The problem on the day seems to have been the lack of notice and common sense to a degree. It's really not that hard to split the groups better than "ok, first 25 go out now and then the rest"
15th of August... form submitted
Full circuit but it's still track time!!
Who else is in?

MRC Motor Racing Championships
MCM Muscle Car Masters
Great events. Cars only. Motor Racing Champs is all classes. Muscle Cars are the golden oldies from the 70's.
Free entry for ARDC members. Great racing.
Marty. I was there at the last one. I was setting suspension after a rebuild and getting back up to speed after a crash. Sorry if I held you up but I thought that's what practice days are for. I agree that it was a big field, it happened at he last minute apparently, it's def not the norm. See you on the 15th.
Your scenario isn't really what I was taking about. If the person infront is riding in a competent and predictable manor you can't really be held up much, especially on a track like EC GP.
I've personally seen these days being promoted on FB groups as "cheap track days". Like I said anyone can just pay their money and they got an MA, unlike other disciplines where you need to be "observed" to obtain a license etc. Then they can hit the practice days with no scruitineering on their bikes or gear, no track expirience, no understanding of the rules (MoMs), limited briefing and basically no rules with potentially the fastest riders in the country on the right day on their road bikes and do whatever they like. I personally believe this is dangerous and not what the days are meant for. If they continue like last time, it will lead to a major change, whether that change is for the better or the worse who knows.. (I would bet for the worse)
PS: I'm not that fast. On that particular day I was riding with a misfire on my bike, I was lapping in the mid 1:50s and still passing 4-5 people per lap. I packed up after two sessions because I was riding unpredictably due to the state of my bike.

You're right. It's wrong to label them as cheap track days and that is what's happening. It will be our loss if the ARDC have to take action.
See you all on the 15th. Need some track time and some testing with a new tune and other settings
