Beauty!! I reckon it might have something to do with the large amount of crashes through the T4 to T9 section.....

That and maybe the poor numbers on the South circuit?

Smallish entry list.... certainly not at garage capacity!

It's a week after the Island Classic and a week before PCRA, plus I think the clusterfuck of a last round might have scared a few people away. I would normally enter, but the lack of time to sort the ZX10 out after it opened the hole in the cam cover, combined with the lack of spare funds made it an inevitable decision to sit this one out.:hurt:

MV own Broadford, so track hire is much cheaper. There is also the fact that Victoria has some competition between tracks to keep them from price gouging.

Yeah, but it's still cheaper to hire than the Creek. Not heaps cheaper, but enough to notice (about 30% less, give or take).

The Creek is a licence to print money. Demand far outstrips supply, so ARDC price gouge. It's criminal..... it's a public (NSW State govt) owned facility, which shouldn't hold users to ransom. That's us taxpayers that own it.

But ARDC have consistently shown to be money-hungry, politically-motivated dickheads, that are happy to screw over everyone they can.

Doesn't NSW Gov license it to the ARDC to run? From recollection when the Gov ran it they lost money? Don't know what NSW Gov charge ARDC per year for the pleasure? You are right the few options available to Shitneysiders means ARDC charge more. How did MV get the cash to own Broady? What tracks does MNSW own ...?

99 year peppercorn lease, I think.

MNSW is working on owning a track at Nowra. At least they are doing something. MA had $10m of our money sitting in Scottish bank bonds or something equally unlikely, and you know how that turned out....

Thanks mate! Top day today. The new surfacing is a bit so-so. I've just checked some data and it looks like I've lost in the first two sectors and gained back about the same in the last two sectors. There's no doubt T9 is faster, quite a bit faster, especially the exit, which makes 10-11 better too. T1 hasn't really changed (there's only a small patch late in the corner), and T4 is still just as bumpy, but without the seam in the middle of the track that always used to make the rear step out for me. So that's good, but overall I'm slower through there because it seems very slippery. Dirty, maybe?

Nick I was flagging at T3 both days and your bike looked really smooth through there. Some bikes, especially on the Sat, were not riding the bumps through T3 very well at all.

The flagging at T2 is quite tricky, the T2 guys missed two bikes that went down on the exit as they can't see it over the rise if the bike and rider are down. The T3 flaggy can see the blind spot but is suppose to be looking the other way, ie in race direction. From T3 I had to call rider down for both Marshy's off and the oil incident today. I ended up rubber necking the entire 180 degrees.

Speaking of oil incident, the bike that caused the mess had a belly pan with a rear lip that was no higher than 10mm ... there is no way it could hold enough oil.

Highlight of the weekend for me was watching Aiden Wagner ride, his flick rate from T2 to T3 is phenomenal, and it sounded / looked like we was the only rider that was adding gas from exit of T2 to end of T3.

The rider that cut in front was the green / white bike that had a number that looked like an 11, but was apparently a 12?

We got asked by race control to look out for him in the restart, well they initially said 11. Then changed it to 12, and I couldn't see a 12? Then I noticed last night looking at Ray's photies that his front numbers look like the second digit is a very vertical 2. No way you can see it the a bike at speed. After the scrutineering fiasco over Spillies numbers last year I couldn't work out how they let it pass.

That's Adrian Pierpoint, and it was him that chopped my nose off into T2, which unsettled me, and then I highsided. Have a look at him doing the same but worse into T9 especially in Bears race 1, which I will post shortly. He is a danger on the track. Anthony S had very stern words with him too, and others were complaining, but according to race control I was the only one that said anything officially, so they let it go as me having a grudge.

They were playing it by the MA handbook, which allows helmet cameras only.
As Marshy said tho, they were put on the spot when asked about what was allowed.
Some people ran bike cameras all day without issue.

Glad they changed it to 12, as 11 was me! And was not even in that race!

I thought the vests were good. I wasn't racing but it gave a good indication of riders I didn't know.
Easy to get behind the underdog in pink! Lol
I imagine it'd be good from on track too... so you know with whom you're actually competing.
What did everybody think of the Pink Practice? All classes and a range of abilities..? :twitch:

I had no drama wearing pink (real men can wear pink ;) ) but I told Saint George I thought It was a great idea IMO, and they had been getting feed back from all grades of riders that was on the same lines.
Only thing I would change is the design, pinning and taping it for riding at speed was not ideal, but still not a pain to live with.

That was Brett Harpur, and his rearset was all bent after that. Lucky but.

I'm hobbling into the office today, although I might not last all day. Pretty sore right now, all over, not just the ankle.

Great weekend and a very well run meeting.

Saturday could not of gone any better in 600 Clubsport. Sunday started off perfectly, but my clutch completely went in the second race off the start resulting in last place.

Thankfully heaps of people came to help me change it over, as I would never have done it in time.

Started last, but managed to get the win.

Thanks again to all the flaggies and officials.

Pic of the clutch that came out, compared to a brand new one.

Couple of interesting observations from my non racing attendance as radiator water scrutineer and flaggy.
# Plenty of bikes were short of water in radiator and some radiators I could not even with the 150mm pick up tube reach water
# Water ranged from clean like Marshy to never flushed brown soup - plus some green - and yes I see the irony in my task!
# Numbers. White background and black numbers easy to read while other combinations suck and triple digit numbers really suck
# Hard to read numbers and colour combinations caused problems on T4 during practice/qualifying to when to signal riders to exit T4
# Some riders hand signaled to exit T4 early practice & qualifying. Also in racing some back markers exited on Lap 4 - assume riders briefing still said this is a no no. Running up the rear of other bikes I'm sure if I could remember would be unpleasant.

Finally Helmet Cameras. Michael Schumacher if he could would advise against it I reckon. Helmets may not work as well if you whack a lump on it...

That's a question for those a bit more in the know. My track bike has obviously previously run standard water so there is significant oxide build up in the cooling system. Any way of cleaning it? I can flush it all day to rince as much out as possible but fill it with demineralised water and 2 days later it'll be back to reasonably brown coloured. There some kind of additive to use during just straight flushes to try and get more of it out?

It will be a bit late now for your cooling system but at least you can stop it deteriorating further , we always drain after racing and replace the plain distilled water with coolant. You just need to drain it again and flush several times replacing it with distilled before the next race meeting

Great footage Marshy and congrats to all on last weekends results. Anyone know the reasoning behind not allowing camera's on bikes at EC last weekend. Doesn't make any sense as it's just as likely to fall off the rider as the bike and as others have said, is more dangerous should the rider hit their head.

That was a bloke in Clubsport I believe, I saw the belly pan, it had a 10mm lip at the back, enough to hold 100ml of oil if that! he apparently had a faulty oil filter
it started in pit exit to the exit of turn 2 as you saw.....so expect everyone to have to juggle their belly pan along with everything else up to scrutineering at future race meets

HA!

That was a joke, right? Proper scrutineering? Never!! They were too busy checking for the important issues (coolant and cameras) to worry about a minor concern (oil).

I hate to say I told you so, but this is exactly what I was talking about pre-event. Total fixation on a non-issue (coolant) and no examination of the important stuff (oil).

So going along with the theme of D grade riders wearing the pink vest . Do you think that C grade riders wearing like a green vest and B grade another colour maybe yellow would be worthwhile ? So when your on the grid you can see how many in your grade is in front of you or if the bike your chasing is worth going all out to pass .? Also for the people spectating , they can work out how your going in your grade?
