Hi everyone,

Have joined the forum after Marshy has suggested I do.

Total newbie, my background being pretty serious Ironman (yes bikes you push) racing.

Bought a Ducati monster 2 years ago after retiring, have loved it, so have just purchased (awaiting delivery) an R6 Nick had for sale, all nice and done up.

Have done a few slllloooow track days on the duke, looking very much forward to the next possible track day on my new track bike. Both PI and Broadford so far.

Am loving the technical aspect of riding, versus previous sport which was just hours and hours of the same thing.

Based in Shepparton, not sure if i ever would consider racing, however im sure thats how it all starts.

Any tips on how best to develop technique, keep it upright, anyone i should get to know (or avoid), and anything thats a must, would be much appreciated.

There was a thread on coaching started not long ago.. http://tarmactalk.com/forum/showthread.php?690-Coaching (http://tarmactalk.com/forum/showthread.php?690-Coaching)
some good info on there. If you can get a copy of "A Twist Of The Wrist II" either the book or the video (if you can stand the cheesy American production values), there's heaps of useful info in there to get you going.

When I recover a bit more from the epic PI return drive, I'll say more ;)

But awesome to have you here! It's a good bunch of people that are all addicted to track days!

Welcome R6Newbie...

Well I guess if PI is your local, then it's also mine  ! Haven't been to Broadford yet, although there are some pretty spectacular roads around there if you know where to go...

Bring on Summer! I once did a trackday at Silverstone...in December...and I think it was warmer than this!

Yep, in the 40s, ie high 49s, I reckon is just about doable on a gixxer ;) Just :flame:

Yeah, but your update will be to a 2005 model.....

Your old bikes might be good for collecting, but they are not the fastest, safest way around the racetrack :behindsofa:
