View Full Version : St George Broadford Round practice day

Mstevo
22-05-2014, 04:31 PM
I've just noticed the Friday practice day for the Broadford Round will be a Champions Ride day, so it we'll have to book through them and it will cost $139

Marshy
22-05-2014, 04:57 PM
Jeez, $139 for a track day! Soooo expensive!!

Oh, hang on.... what does it cost at the Creek?? Can't remember exactly, but I need to sell one of my kids (or kidneys) each time I go. ;)

Seriously though, thanks for the heads-up, Stevo

Mstevo
22-05-2014, 05:19 PM
certainly wasn't having a go at the cost, just passing on the info
although I can't remember what last years in house day cost?

Fridays track day at broady is still a MV day, champions is on Sunday
not according to their latest calendar,
http://championsridedays.com.au/portal/component/option,com_eventman/

besides we(as in St George MCC) will be racing on both the Saturday and Sunday

chubb

The_Brick
25-05-2014, 04:19 PM
I might make this as well, would be good to see you NSW boys and girls down here in Vic. how to get a discount is to book 6 or more people with champions prior to the day. How I've done it in the past is made the booking at got the other to deposit what their share is into my account. I'd offer to do this but still not 100% that I will be there. As it is before a race weekend it will be busy and not like a normal practice day.

Marshy
25-05-2014, 05:44 PM
Hope you can make it - it'd be good to meet one of our Mexican members ;)

I don't think we'll miss out on a spot, it is a Friday and it is in the middle of a Mexican winter ;-)
although it wouldn't surprise me if Champions only allow so many group book in's

Ok, I'm finally doing the group registration now. Names of DEFINITES! I'll need money too, ppl, but I'll submit the registration first. We need a minimum of 6.

PM me your name, DOB, email address, and bike make/model. If you want to be in a group other than 'Racer', say so (WAGs etc). There an option of a photo package at $55 each, so if you want that too, let me know. I'll sort payment and PM you back my bank details.

sorry if its posted elsewhere...

what are accommodation options for Broady ?

i'm planning on making my 1st trip there with a couple of others.

Marshy
07-08-2014, 09:43 PM
We are staying at the Kilmore Motel again, Scotty. Just be sure to ask for the nicer ("4 star") rooms at the back - the ones at the front are draughty, cold and very small! The back ones are quite nice. It's also virtually next door to a large Woolworths, so supplies are easy. And there are some good eats in the same block, so 5 min walk at most to a range of restaurants.

There's nothing in Broady itself (there's only the Sugarloaf Motel, and St George committee book it out way in advance). The other option is Seymour. It's further from the track than Kilmore (and in the opposite direction!) but it does offer a wider range of options, and of restaurants/pubs etc, as it's a much bigger town.

Marshy
07-08-2014, 09:49 PM
Oh, I found this quite useful (from the MV site): http://www.motorcyclingvic.com.au/fileadmin/user_upload/state_files/vic/Broadford_Documents/12.3.14.Accommodation_List_01.pdf

Scotty, are you doing the practice day?? Want in on the discount??

It depends on your requirements for facilities, warmth, and staying dry. There were a few hardy souls last year (or year before, or both), but one year it was very wet, and the entire area was essentially just one huge mud puddle. Like, nothing but mud as far as the eye could see. And it's in the Victorian high country in the middle of winter. You know, near where it snows. It's farken freezing!

Oh, and there's no potable water (just a rainwater tank) and no showers etc.

But hey, I'm old and grumpy, and these days my idea of camping is 3.5 stars. ;)
