Yea I know, that sucks, the new section up the hills is where cars tend to leave rubber & crap. Still better than a MEGA track day & half the price

I'm keen as for this, I've just joined ARDC, what else do I have to do to be able to ride this?

Marshy
12-05-2014, 11:55 AM
You need a Senior National MA race licence, or a AASA race licence. If you have one of those, just fill in the form (stickied here: http://tarmactalk.com/forum/showthread.php?232-ARDC-private-practice-bike-rego-form ) and/or just turn up on the day - but check there are 10 bikes booked so there's an allocated bike session first.

zoidberg
12-05-2014, 11:58 AM
I have neither but am definitely planning on doing some club rounds later this year, so will be getting an MA license. If I apply this week would I have one in time? Sorry for all the questions!

Marshy
12-05-2014, 12:07 PM
Yep, it's normally two weeks to get an MA licence, so you'll be fine if you get it in immediately. Just make sure you get a Senior National (don't be tempted by the slightly cheaper Club licences etc), as you can't do ARDC days on a lesser licence. You also get $20 back from each SMSPRD ride day you do, as a holder of an MA licence.

I ask this every time ... it's like ground hog day ... what is the email address to send the form to? I can't see it on the form or website.

Glad you have the forms on TT Marshy ... the silly link on the ARDC site points to a disabled Dropbox link (http://www.sydneymotorsportpark.com.au/experience/detail/ARDC-PRIVATE-PRACTICE/15).

Oh just some feedback on tyre pressures. With the Dunlop Ntecs I usually run 24psi in the rear and 34 in the front (hot).

SW racing installed their Mupo suspension in the morning of the 8th. I put a fresh UK Ntec on the rear on the 9th. In the 3rd session I started pushing hard and had 3 near high-sides on the last lap.

So came in & spoke to Stu from SW & he said cos it was warning up and it happened towards the end of the session it pointed to tyre pressure being too high. So dropped the rear down to 20psi abd the front to 31psi and didn't have an issue in the following sessions.

Mr.Ed
13-05-2014, 07:03 PM
Got tripped playing basketball... not sure if it's broken 'cause there's almost no pain. Except for this one spot that... well, makes me swear in languages I don't even speak.

Dr. Google seems to think I broke my scaphoid... who knew I had one of those, hey?!

Little Mick
13-05-2014, 07:05 PM
scaphoid in thumb?

Mr.Ed
13-05-2014, 07:13 PM
Nah, the thumb is fine... it doesn't even hurt at all. It's more the base of the hand, where it joins the wrist. It happened yesterday and today it's not even bruised anymore but the area that was hurting yesterday, it's still hurting today. So off to the Docs tomorrow I guess.

I can probably still ride with little to no pain but if I crash (not that I'm prone to or anything) it may get ugly.

Little Mick
13-05-2014, 07:14 PM

I have done my right scaphoid roller bladeing as a kid..... its pretty painful, they gave me a half cast and said rest !

Its a common injury from throwing your hands out flat to catch your fall

Mr.Ed
13-05-2014, 08:02 PM
Yeah, that's the thing... I had the fall at around 9:30am, played on and off all the way to 1:30pm almost pain-free. At that stage I actually thought I'd hurt my thumb! Then when I was driving home I noticed something wasn't right on my hand but still no pain...

Now it hurts if I press on this one spot which incidentally means it hurts to drive or use that hand to help me get up. I have full range of hand and finger movement too so I'm hoping it's just a hairline fracture or something that small 'cause Google tends to give you lots of bad news if you know where to look! Haha

Fingers crossed it's not your scaphoid. If it is, don't try and shortcut the healing. I did mine years ago and ended up doing too much, too soon. 16 years later and it still twinges with pain every now and then.

Morning All

With the ARDC days, when do you need to produce your license? On the day, or when you send the forms in? (Just that my license should be in the post from MNSW)

Also, what time do you have to arrive, normal track day time 0700-0730?

And finally any cut off time for getting your forms in to participate in the day?

Cheers

Lee

Marshy
21-05-2014, 07:35 AM
On the day is fine for your licence. You can put TBA on the form.

Normal track day time is fine. The later you are, the less chance of good parking - the racecars take up a LOT of space each with their transporters etc. But there'll be a few bike garages set up already (we usually head for 49-50) which you can jump in.

Forms are due on the Wednesday, two days before the event. But if ARDC have already received 10 forms, then a bike session will definitely be allocated and you can just turn up on the day, no form required.

Isolated showers doesn't mean much. Besides, the Creek has its own weather. I've been there when it's rained heavily in a circle all around the track for most of the day, but stayed dry all day for the track itself. It's probably all the methane emanating from the landfill....

It will come apart again on the weekend (unless running it up on the rear stand a couple of mornings in a row is enough to reset it). I'm also gonna research what computer thingie I need to access under the hood....

31-05-2014, 06:39 AM
First thing in the morning Marshy closed 1 eye and kicked my front end straight as it was twisted from rolling over at wakey.

First session I took it easy just making sure the bike was back to its normal self, which it was.

Second sesh I let everybody leave 30sec in front of me for some clean air, ended up 1 sec of my PB just by staying smooth and relaxed... I was happy with that

3rd sesh bike wouldn't start.. No power to the fuel pump, we all had a fiddle with and to no avail..... its not the fuel pump thanks rick for lending me yours, So I will take the fairings off and have a look around the wiring that I fiddled with the day before, I will also check to see if its throwing any codes

I achieved what I set out to do, and that was to make sure the bike was handling the way it used too, also to make sure my shoulder wasn't still rooted, Its ok

Thanks for everybody's help

and It was a good day in the shed by all

Thanks for the hand moving garages Rob.

Overall I had a good day ... the new shock was way better than the old setup ... after Nick's massive help dialing in some suspension settings it was feeling solid. I have had so little track time combined with new bike that I have not been overly comfortable / confident, but that's started to turn a corner yesterday.

Although Spilly did go past me in session 3 like I was standing still. ;) And I managed to do a massive stoppie, avoiding the green ZX10 who's early braking in old T9 really caught me out. I was so lucky to stay on, I thought I was going to face plant it.

Hope Shippy gets to the bottom of his starting troubles. We should have done a permanent tank swap, your tank looks prettier than mine. ;)

Mate, I found some footage of when I followed you for a little bit. As you can see, you brake way too much, slowing right down for initial turn-in, then as you settle in for the turn, you are hard on the gas to get back up to normal corner speed heading towards the apex. You need to be tipping in at the speed you intend to carry through the middle of the turn (actually, you should tip in faster, because the front tyre will wash off a heap of speed on its own, plus any trail braking you also do).

The footage doesn't show it that well, but going into T10 particularly I had to jump on the brakes to not hit you!

That is excellent info and footage to help with improved riding.
As you said marshy, lines are ok, exit is ok, just need to work on entry speed to help improve over all package.
That Video is great info, thanks marshy. :)

No, the thumbnail isn't from on board Wetty's bike. It's his close pass on me at the ARDC day the other day. I was expecting it, but it still made me flinch a little! ;)

LOL ... yeah I flinched watching it ... Nick can I X post that on the 'other forum'?

BTW .. did you get your electrickery sorted, or are you now working out how to get that Ape Navigator system? I saw a post from the US site, where a guy picked one up from an Ape Dealer that was going out of business. But still needs a new code every 12 months for updates. All looks very convoluted.

That shit pisses me off.

It's a track day not race day. Don't care how quick you are.... Pass safely!!! We all want to get the bike home in one piece.

Unless that was of course a race

Too true!

Sure rubbing is racing and close riding is fun, but even in a race - low level club racing that is - no one is impressed by dodgy overtakes. aka BAD SPORTSMANSHIP!
More often than not it ruins both of the riders laps anyway.

4 gears? don't remember doing that but it is possible

It's possible, first time after big crash, I was doing 1:58's I think. I am yet to have a dry timed run with a working bike at the GP circuit since
