I thought I would start a thread on what people are doing for the 4 hour in 6 months time. This can be for teams formed up or people looking for a team. Just so everyone can start thinking of organising stuff and no last minute rush.

Here is the list of classes

Do you guys use different compounds for these longer races over say the standard St George length races at SMSP?

Just use the typical race tyre you normally use Rick. As a team of 3 you are doing about 60 to 70 laps each. About a track day worth... If it was all using the same bike that would be a different story...

Secret squirrel is right. There are so many teams already formed this year but no one spilling..... I blame the 6 mth gap in the calendar.

Well, here we are......

Saturnalian R6 C grade
Mazabuzz ZX6 C grade
Jake Kell CBR600 D grade

With BoB handing out the Kit Kat's and neck massages and hopefully some discipline

Hey there,

Speaking with Jan via email today and she said she has a couple of riders who are looking for team mates if anyone's still wants to get in and have a crack.

There are 2 x D grade 600 riders who would like to team up with someone and 2 x C Grade 750 riders who may be looking for a replacement.

Dan, Bretto, do you know something about this second one ?

If you want to fill one of those gaps or get into a team send Jan an email and she'll forward you the contacts.

That is all....

So, very belatedly, I changed my mind and fired off an entry to Jan late yesterday afternoon. Bless her cotton socks, I only got a medium-level rollicking, and whilst I have to give her flowers and chocolates, I think that I can get away with only 2 large bunches of flowers and, say, 2kg of Swiss chocolate. ;)

She rightly pointed out that I'd completely stuffed the schedule, the mailouts that were already sealed in envelopes, and everything else she has slaved away at for the last several months.

So if she's grumpy on the day, it's all my fault. Please feel free to smack me upside the head, or at least give me a hard time for causing so much trouble!

The upside is that I'll see you all there!!! :peace:

Ha!! She might've calmed down a bit once all the paperwork is actually sent out.

TBH, I don't think adding someone to the sprint races is a big deal. It's changing 4-hour classes, race numbers, etc etc that really hurt. You should be fine, John.

Besides, I always just email her! That way she: 1. can look at it whenever she's free, and 2. can't yell at me!!!

I'm the wrong man to answer that one. I may live 12mins away but I've only done 1 & 1/2 days there.

But to answer your question, I'll be running a tyre that I don't like in a size that I don't like just to get rid of it.

Not putting much effort in tomorrow. Been sick for a while and been off the bike for too long. Aiming to qualify last place and chop through a few at the back just to get me ready for Broady next weekend.

Track conditions were awesome for a winter WP. Got good grip even off the race line.

I was battling with Mick J and Abie Wheeler for most of the day between CS600 and 600.

Finished 1st and 2nd outright swapping between the above mentioned. And some photo finishes too!!

First qually was outrageously terrible for me, being organised late and the warmers triping out every 3 sec the tyres wer only up to 30 degrees I quallied a useless 117.... I managed to get that down to a 107.6 by the end of the day

Warmers came good after quallies

Chubb was in the 103's yesterday, he came first a couple of times, i watched from pit wall 1 race and he really looked proper quick....like proper quick

Marty won a trophie hanging around the 07's all day, had stern words with a bloke that braked hard after the chequred flag that almost didnt end so well

Was a great day, bombed the Le mans start, had an awesome first stint with 15 laps under my old PB of 1:06.8 putting us nicely up in the class lead by the end of the first stint, close racing all day but Team 59 were just too good by the end of the day checking out in the last hour. Well done fellas!!!!

New PB of 1:06.02 and by the end of the day 2nd in class 5 with a team of D graders and mostly first timers. Still pumped.

Good work guys, we were watching the timing like hawks all day! (I was on team 59)

I'm really proud of our team, we had an excellent team principal (Rancell's wife) and very dedicated support team helping us with pit stops and the pit board (Kelly, Brad, Andrea and Paul). That left the 4 of us to focus on riding as consistently as possible. We didn't make a single mistake all day, everything went like clockwork. We all put alot of effort into getting it right and I'm really proud that it paid off in the end. Rancell (Chubb), Matt (Shippy) and Cam (Metal-Man), you're a great bunch of guys.

Honestly I was a bit nervous coming into the 4 hour, but it turned out to be the most fun i've ever had on a race track without any doubt.

Cheers
Marty

That was a fun weekend :) Some strange things going on but lets say that the crank sensor on my bike was no longer attached after 600CS qualifying and as it wouldnt start, Race 2 I had to grid from 37th !! I couldnt see the lights from that far back haha.. Had a blast coming through and got to 13th over the line. Race 3 made it up to 6th i think, but i was destroying tyres. In the 4 hour i was with Rod and Keith and the boys rode so well, it was a pleasure, it really was. I put a new R10 EVO on the rear and i destroyed that one in 35 minutes !! Certainly need to find out whats going on with the new WP rear shock, I was putting in settings, but wasnt making much difference. Need more time to get it set up. Saying that the bike was strong and the grip was good, very good until i melted it ! Well done to everyone racing and just Awesome riding from Chubb

I sit on the tail piece too, but I don't get those wheelies

Don't forget that chubb weighs 60kg dripping wet, whereas you and I, Stu, are.... ummm.... slightly more portly.

Didn't you know Dan? The bike has an auto-pilot race-win module fitted. All Owen needs to do is hold on!:pray::flypig::pray2::rapture:
