View Full Version : Bargain

Mr.Ed
07-01-2014, 02:50 PM
So I thought I'd start a thread where ppl could just come and post whatever bargain they want to share.

I'll kick things off with SKINS.

Yeah, I know... some ppl swear by compression garments (myself included) others say they're bad for you when riding a bike and bla bla bla... whatever your opinion is there's a bargain to be had and this is the main point here. This being TT, I also expected the off topic comments to take over (as they should!)

Anyway, this is the link for the place that's having a sale on skins... some of them are REAALLY cheap! Personally, I wouldn't bother with the A100 as they're pretty much what any other generic brand will offer. From the A200 onwards there's a big difference IMHO.

What a great idea (this thread!)

Off topic but I just went from compression / skins to the onesies that Tristan sells and I MUCH prefer them. But I'm a weird shape

eBay search compression shirt / pants worldwide and sort by price lowest to highest. They be up the top somewhere. Got them ages ago so links are dead.

There was some talk about Skins a while back. This site has Proskin alternatives really cheap at the moment - eg Mens Active Compression Long Sleeve Crew Top (Black) for $30. You have to join the site or just login through facebook. Lots of other sporting stuff in there - anything I've price checked has been the lowest price on the interwebs which is saying something...

Ok, this is more than a bargain... I almost started a new thread just for it but I got lazy.

If you own a R6 (and lots of you do!!) and haven't invested properly on your suspension yet**, it's time to pull the trigger on this... You'll never find a new Ohlins rear shock for this price again. Evah. MK II and all to top it off...

I do... but the Dainese ones are extra lame. At least the ones I got. Having said that, the first time I realized I could get my knee down around T1 it nearly cost me a new set of sliders hahahahhaa it's fun but faaaaaaaaaaaark they wear out quickly.

It needs to be bought via ebay Australia, so if you found something on ebay.us or uk or whatever that you like, you'll need to put it on your watch list, log in on ebay Australia and buy it through there.

Only one coupon per customer but it works with multiple purchases from the same buyer since it's applied at the checkout. Coupon is CBIGSUNDAY

The 'add to watch list on US ebay' then purchase via AU ebay worked a treat! Jeez you're good at this sort of stuff  I even had it sent to my US address (from a US seller), so AU ebay actually had no involvement in the transaction apart from processing the deal. Good one!

I'm a member several times over, but I don't recall seeing any email. Thanks Ed! I think. I just spent another $2k I can't afford, just to save $100 (which was the maximum discount, which you conveniently forgot to mention and I didn't find out until I'd finished several hours of shopping ;)

Marshy, please don't hate... hahahaha

Well, ebay has another sale going on, this time is 20% off on 5 transaction with a max discount of $200 per transaction. If you buy multiple items of one seller and make it one payment it counts as just one transaction too. SELECT SELLERS ONLY!

Anyway, here's a link to the T&C's http://pages2.ebay.com.au/Sunday

In an effort to save leathers and bank accounts everywhere I found these cheapy tank grips on ebay. Have them on the ZX and work just as well as the old stomp grips I had. Plenty of different shapes and sizes.

Some aussie stock end of the year bargains! And even though I still think it's a lot of $ for an action cam, this is the cheapest I've seen a GoPro4 Black by a LOT!

So I'm looking to buy a 8-cell battery (might settle for the 4cell, not sure yet)... the one I usually buy is $150USD. Anyone bought one cheaper recently?

Marshy
06-02-2015, 11:00 AM
Ed, I've been using Motocell in all my bike builds for ages. They are as good as Shorai but half the price. Local product, local warranty etc (we are a dealer). And depending on the model, they are only about $150 Aussie! Bargain. Muuuuch better than the 'cell' type lithium batteries (that's so old-skool tech now). See: http://www.linkint.com.au/motocell.html

Let me know if you want me to order one. Check the model for your bike and I'll confirm a price.

Mr.Ed
06-02-2015, 11:30 AM
Hmmm oddly enough I was just reading on the differences between Lithium Ion (what MotoCell uses) and Lithium Polymer (Moty - the one I usually get). They both seem to have their pros and cons but in the end, for my use, it wouldn't make much of difference regardless.

I know for a fact that I can use the 4-cell LiPo on my bike because I had one before and one before that on the R6 and none gave me any headache. Having said that, it seems just about every manufacturer recommends the 8cell for a 4cyl 600cc engine... so I might have been punishing the lil bastard even more than I thought I was by having to recharge it every 3 sessions due to a faulty rectifier.

Anyways, shoot me a price for the Motocell (http://www.linkint.com.au/Product/58-1056-10P_item.html) and a weight if possible. I do like the idea of buying local! :)

Probably. You can join on the spot in store, I think. So it's probably the same.

It sounds very much like they will give the discount to anyone that asks. "I'm a member of my local WRX car club". "No worries Sir; here's your discount".

You can add the promo code SAVE20 at the checkout and it comes down to $79 delivered which is pretty good considering the quality and that it even has a 32mm socket! You may also want to check if you have any credits from previous purchases (i.e. oil and etc) as I had nearly $25 and it made it an even better deal for me.
