View Full Version : Heat shield

I'm after some stick on heat shield to put in my fairing where my new exhaust almost sits on the fairing and on the undertail. I've tried supershit and repco and not surprisingly I just get a bunch of blank stares.

I'm in Sydney. Anyone recommend a brand or supplier or want to sell me some lengths they got lying around?

Cheers
Marty

I got some from AutoOne in Newtown. I'm sure you'll find it on ebay though and not have to deal with useless staff.

Thanks Dan, I'm just a bit worried about shipping times at this time of year, I'm trying to find something for next weekend. I'll have a look for a local autoOne

If MCAS stocks only one type then it's shit stuff. I bought some for my new belly plan and it only lasted one outing not before it burnt off.

Yeah I need some for my belly pan as well, I'm in Annandale so might head over to the autoone Dan suggested. How much did it set you back Dan?

Are you sure you need it? I run an aftermarket full exhaust and had the OEM before and never had any issues... and that's despite the thing touching the belly pan 24/7. It just never gets hot enough to burn it I think.

Depends on the tune Ed. Leaner-hotter. I have to use it on both of mine.

Was about $50. It is about 50mm wide and in a 30' length I think. Not cheap but I was desperate.

I'm in Annandale too!

The first day of running it smoked up a bit, admittedly I didn't notice it on the second day so maybe it just burned off a bit of something0 and is fine now.

Mine was 'self tuned' to 13.2 AFR for most of the map (12.8 from 11K+), not the leanest but not the richest either I reckon

Yeh it sits a lot closer to the fairings now, I ran it with the fairings on for a few mins and bits started to catch fire.

Then I think it's safe to assume you need the heat shield :D

You're on Nelson St? I'm just on Albion. When am I going to see you doing happy laps on the race bike?

I meant happy laps around the block!

I'll probably pop out on the 22nd to drink some beers and talk shit and claim I'd be doing 1.40s if it wasn't for my busted ankle.

If anyone's interested I ended up taking a risk with this, cheap enough and didn't notice the regular fiberglass burning smell on Saturday
