I'm a smidge under 6'2". Used to be just over. I have a UFO I bought on gumtree. It covers my tailbone. Built in kidney belt is unreal.

Dainese do 4 sizes with their Wave Air back protectors. I'm happy with mine and will get another one when my current one is stuffed and it's seen 4 crashes so far. I take a Wave Air 12 with a large strap and I'm just on 6'. Here's their blurb:

Dainese WAVE AIR back protector

The highest levels of protection, light weight, ergonomics, and ventilation distinguish this racing back protector developed with suggestions from competitive motorcycle racings greatest champions. Homologated to EN 1621.2 Standard Level 2, this back protector has rigid external corrugated plates for better impact energy distribution and a lightweight core made of aluminum honeycomb and Astrosorb. Ergonomics and riding comfort are guaranteed thanks to jointed pads, a patented lumbar support joint, the perforation of the structure, the use of breathable fabrics, and ample volume adjustment possibilities.

length of back-protector:
WAVE AIR 13: for people with height over 185 cm
WAVE AIR 12: for people with height: 170 - 185cm
WAVE AIR 11: for people with height: 160 - 170cm

I would go with what ED suggested before and try on the forcefield ones.

Yep, if you are worried about it being too short the forcefield will definitely suit you!

Ed, I'd like to try your protection to see if it's a good fit for my length and girth.

Gayness aside, this is the back protector I suggested:

http://biker-land.de/Motorcycle-Clothing/Forcefield/FORCEFIELD-PRO-SUB-4-BACK-PROTEKTOR.html?currency=AUD&language=en&non_eu=1&gclid=CPby1rC5hrsCFYkqpAodZ38ARQ

As you can see, it more than cover your back and lower back. it comes in different sizes and it's got the safety credentials to back it up too...

I'm looking for a new back protector as well. As much as I like the specs and sound of your one Ed, I just don't think it will breath enough for me. I'm thinking I might try one like Nelso's and sell it to Stu if I don't like it.

Just for the record, I was making heterosexual innuendo. Not sure about you others now.

I actually have this one:

http://biker-land.de/Motorcycle-Clothing/Forcefield/Forcefield-PRO-L2-Back-Protector.html

but would like to upgrade to the sub4 at some stage... my does breathe very well, have no complaints whatsoever about it. And tbh, even if the Sub4 makes it a bit hotter, I'd still prefer a bit of sweat than what the alternative might present!

I got a Forcefield Sub 4. I'm about 6'3".

Beware that it is also quite thick, so might be a squeeze under existing leathers.

I bought the Alpine Stars one from BikeBiz today. Fit me better than the Dainese equivalent and quite a bit cheaper too. They're on special at the moment for $134

Grabbed the new Gimoto back and chest protector combo when I picked up the suits a week or so ago.
Will give it a run this weekend.
