Fitted a customer's fairing for him. I don't normally fit them, but he asked nicely and was in need. It's not fully bolted up because he's fitting a new exhaust tomorrow and wanted to make room for it. Oh, and I don't have any of those stupid Suzuki arrow-head mounting thingamajigs for the main fairing mounts. But the paintwork came up great! It was his custom design, that I prepared in photoshop and Superbike Source produced.

Think it was more he didn't want to risk it driving around and needed to get it into his garage to drool some more. Told him he could come as late as he liked.

He actually didn't rock up here until nearly 9:30pm (he was supposed to come at 7pm). Then drooling time, loading time, and a bit more drooling, and he was off.

Andrew,

the closer I look, the more I work out... now that I worked out what it is (:cheer: Mr Ed. )....

assuming your clip ons are below your trees....What is your fork diameter below your clip on? (need to go below the taper on the tube to a parallel section - hopefully its within 50mm or so from the clip on......)

If clip ons are above trees, do you have 12mm of parallel below trees?

do you have a MC sorted? of so what are the CL dimensions of the mounting holes and the outside diameter of the master?

cheers

Mick

looking at the thumb brake...If enough are interested, maybe worthwhile.... 1 offs are exxy due to tooling...but if enough interested, might be able to get some done more effectively...

I have to say Ill be interested to read how the Beemer goes after installing the STM or any other aftermarket brand that well make a difference in your Starting Woes...

Specially after reading most of the night about slipper clutches.. which in a nutshell eliminates rear wheel lock from downshifts. Sorta acts like a one way differential.

Say you're coming into a corner and grab a downshift, or two or three for that matter, and get off the clutch to fast or didn't match revs just right this slipper clutch will eliminate the impending lock up of the rear tire so you don't soil your britches, or run off the track/road.

I thought about as it's very cheap part (at least the kawi ones) but then I started reading on having to calculate squish and using clay and whatnot... at some point I had to blink and that's when it hit me!! I can't even deal with what the bike has atm... hahahaha

Having said that, it seems that the most gains are to be had in the midrange and that's gotta be a massive plus on a 600!

Had the Power Commander V & Auto Tune, front sprocket, BMC race air filter arrive... All fitted, except for the auto tune... because the Kawasaki does NOT run a M18x1.5 O2 sensor, you need to drill out and retap the existing hole, OR bung the existing and drill/tap a new one and use the adapter (fking kidding me!!) Anyway, will need new tyres as well to get it ready before Friday!! :bolt:

Yesterday was a busy day.
I fixed up my trailer with new wheel bearings and new LED lights that was needed. I also welded up the mud guard on that came off during the drive from PI.
I also fitted new Driven chain and sprockets, and also mounted a bracket that I fabricated for my lap timer

Here is the btacket
http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/ad284/mazaniz/IMG_09321.jpg (http://s944.photobucket.com/user/mazaniz/media/IMG_09321.jpg.html)
http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/ad284/mazaniz/IMG_09311.jpg (http://s944.photobucket.com/user/mazaniz/media/IMG_09311.jpg.html)

I fitted some neoprean rubber to the back of it so it doesn't scratch my top triple and mounted it
http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/ad284/mazaniz/IMG_09341.jpg (http://s944.photobucket.com/user/mazaniz/media/IMG_09341.jpg.html)

I'm also getting my tank and fairings painted, so I took off my stop grips and the tank covers I fabricated and gave them a sand and got them ready for primer, I've tested them out in a crash and they work a treat (also much cheaper). I cleaned the stompgrips and bought some adhesive so ill put them back on when the tank arrived.
Here are the fibre glass covers I made.

Sometimes its hard to get the part you need when you need it....

What is it I refer to???

One of these was a minimum of 5 weeks from OS from Kawasaki... and it wasnt feasible for a local wrecker to pull a bike apart to sort one out for the customer..

so, decided the wait was hampering progress.... broke out some CrMo bar and made this.. (notice the original on the right with a bend in it)

If that closes will it cut ignition?

If that closes will it cut ignition?

Interesting you ask that. Yes it does. I had the same switch on a car for nitrous. We had to remove the cover and just leave the toggle, as sometimes from vibration it would close.

Was thinking if you had a moment, maybe got off the seat, you might accidentally hit it closed which would make things interesting.

Can you set it up so it's reversed - closed is on then flip it up to turn it off?

How much vibration Rick? the cover does sit up on its own but will keep an eye on it - thanks for the heads up.. it is easy enough to remove if need be - or do what marshy suggesterd

not with this switch dan as there is a keyway for the switch cover to lock into.. you could do it but the cover might vibrate arount the switch without the little tang.

I'd love to use CNCs Mario - My machines are old school tho...Lathe is 60s vintage and miller is 70s at best..

At some point I will get a CNC and do custom stuff but at the moment....its the way slower method.

Not sure how the R6 spring is mounted on the throttle bodies Nick.
On mine I had made, that little alloy wedge which bolts against the cable bracket. It allowed me to release the spring from its position and rest against my bracket. Taking about a third of a turn out of the spring.

Repaired the air box cover on the R6 and refitted it.

Swapped the bike over to race shift. (That should make for an interesting first couple of days!!!!)

Did the Annitori ignition coil bypass. Thanks Marshy and BoB.

Removed the awesome Panda fairings and stripped all of the stickers off for a sanding, ready to drop back in to the moulds at Racers edge this week.

And went shopping for some tasty Carbonin parts for the new year...

Honestly Rancell. Auto electrics can be a major PITA. with DC everything always seems to be related to something else so troubleshooting can be a complete headf**k.

I'm so stoked that you got the HM dash though. I kinda have to buy one now. It was on my Christmas list but seems to have slipped near the bottom.

Well I went through all the wiring with a wiring diagram and a fine tooth comb over the weekend.

Everything is meant to be where it all says. Bike starts fine idles well. Went through the gears on the stand couldn't replicate the issue I had last Thursday.

See what happens on Thursday at SMP whether the bike dies out while riding or not.

FI light comes on when the bike dies and if the bike doesn't die, comes on just as I turn the key off.

I get error codes 64, 72, 0

Which in the service manual means nothing as it doesn't exist!!!

Bah

Any sharp edge must have a minimum of 3mm beading on it, so as not to cut you. That's from memory of the GCRs.

There's a red front Anderson stand at the front wheel that doesn't look like it's holding up the forks; nor does it look needed, because the wheel chock is holding the bike. Just wondered what it's for.

Notice things like rags on the tie down points. That's Damien and Alex Cudlin's bikes in the background, and their family own a bike shop, so says something.

Highly recommended, and I'm not easy to please :)

Good work. Keep us updated :thumb:

blow nozzle on the compressor ;)
haven't washed the bike fully, but I pulled the airbox out and cleaned before I started it

Installed one of Marshys Annitori Quick Shifters on the CBR today.Holy cow its like riding an automatic.Flat changes without backing off.:tongue:Amazing little device.Had to take the side fairings(its a roady) and the airbox off to get to the plug top coils which is always a good patience tester when putting it back together as those bitchy little clips and saddles never go back in the way they came out.Thought i might have been able to get away with getting at it by just removing the airbox but nope.Hooking the QS itself up was the easy part.No wires to cut, plug and play
Big thanks to Nick for supplying on short notice on Friday and for the advice today Cheers mate :high5:

I'm looking forward to playing with one of these combined with a race shift pattern.

Let me know how you go with hooking such modern technology to our old steam engines!

You will love it.

I always thought I didn't need a quick shifter but now that I have one I can't live without one!

Installed Phat3r's quickshifter, and serviced his shock and forks. The rear shock was ugly inside!
