Came upon a problem when installing the woodcraft key eliminator one of the plugs would not fit (single pin on the bike and 2 pin on the woodcraft piece) not sure what it does the bike does start its running rough tho sounds as if its sucking air.

Damn ... worth getting in touch with WC? Must be difference with US wiring and having no immobiliser? I was speaking with Ryan (ryan"AT"woodcraft-cfm.com). Do you have manual (http://www.r6messagenet.com/forums/pdf/LIT-11616-21-61.pdf) to look at the codes?

I have emailed them with pics and we will see what comes back i did a huge rush job putting the bike back together so i may have missed something and maybe thats why the bike is running a bit funny( the bike sounds like it has a air leak and bogs down when i give it s squirt). I will report back on what they say and tomorrow ill go over the bike and see if its the woodcraft unit thats making the bike play up. Interesting about pehaps the diff wiring harness makes sense.

So i took the bike apart and put it back together again. Then i reinstalled the ignition and ran the bike and then ran it with the WC product and took it for a hot lap around the block and the bike runs perfectly so no idea on what the extra plug does all it does is complete a circuit but it effects the bike in no way (must be a us model thing). Seems i must have missed something when i was rushing the other day.

after 2 days of scrutineering duties at Eastern Creek, today I got back to a work in progress.... turning up a new steering neck shaft for a custom frame with a Honda front end.

Needed to make a custom button die holder as I didn't have one to hold the button die to suit the M24x1 and M26x1 button die.
long story short.... all critical sizes done and first thread cut. (this one holds the top tree in place...) Material - 4140 (CrMo)

1571

next step is to cut the second thread that pulls against the bearings. Then its a turn around to finish the lower end.

Will post a few shots once complete...

Cheers

Yeah the heat got right up there. Didnt help wjen i got sunscreen in my eyes from lunchtime. Made checking stickers all the more challenging.

Sounds like everyone had a ball though. Minimal crashes and some awesome racing. If anyone missed it, go to the live streaming video on terrys fx site and watch the 600s and superbike races.

is that motor special already or going to become special?

Unfortunately not :( It's just a stock 2013 motor that had some head gasket issues, so it has had the top end refreshed (new cam chains, tensioners etc) and is ready for action again.... or it will be when the missing bits are put back on! It's going in a bike build.

Currently reset the geometry -8mm in the rear and +8mm in the front.

Hoping the weight is taken off the front and with the revalve should get a lot more front end feel and the bike to hold its line a lot better without fighting it too much. Can't reveal much more than that so we will see how we go!

Automatic testicle clamp tightener ;)

Brett Harpur had one at the track and I fell in lust with it, so googled it myself and ordered one from total tools. Tops idea. Not real powerful though; it's not a replacement for a rattle gun. But it makes caliper bolts (and other longer bolts) much quicker to remove and refit. The light on the end is cool!!

Finished the neck stem on Saturday.

Needed to pick up an M12 x 1.25 cap screw to hold it all together which I picked up yesterday.

New shaft ready for mock up. Bearings were old ones for trial fit purposes, but an new set and seals will be going in once the owner gets all the other bits n bobs ready.

The lower tree needed to be removable as requested so I came up with a stepped spigot arrangement.

the cap screw is tightened to clamp the lower tree in place.

another objective was to allow the use of a neck stand for the track so the bolt was recessed further to give the required functionality..

Looks great Nick, customer will be happy with that!

You should of been handing out Superbike Source cards over the last 4 track days ... so many busted up bikes, in particular Doocati's to fix! Wonder how many will be permanently tracked now?

You could get SU recovery to slip one of your cards (or better yet a small sticker) onto every damaged bike they recover?

Found out that the fan wasn't cutting in I let it get to 114 then shut it off. Pretty sure it should kick in at 103??? On that note is there any issues with hard wiring the fan to run whenever the ignition is on? Apart from draw on the battery is there a reason not to do it???

Next it to Lock wire, but I'll need some lock wire pliers 1st. Does anyone stock then over the counter? Repco and super cheep didnt that know what I was talking about on the phone

Decided with the ape out of action for a little while that I'd be keeping the CBR as a2nd bike. So flushed the coolant with water, did an old and filter change and cleaned the air filter. I've had some fairings here for 7 or so mths so fitted them up to get her looking a bit neater http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/28/ed01b5d8c5d1b6b5c9570733f2b16d3d.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/28/06a8fca464404223e67bacaf5d354fa4.jpg

Cheers Luke

Cannot remember off the top of my head but I think it cuts in around 108 and turns off around 104 . Unplug the fan and put 12v to it and it should work , once you know its working ok you can hard wire the cbr 600 to the high beam switch as well as having the auto cut in .(ie use the 12v + from the high beam connected to the 12v + supply to the fan .

Cheers I actually got rid of the lights and running gear. ( might have them in a box of crap) But I'll test the fan tomorrow and make sure it's working 1st. If it is I might let it get a little hotter say 120 and see if it kicks in or not.

If it doesn't cut in by 110 you've got a problem. No need to cook it any further than that. Most jap bikes kick in at 103, but BoB knows cbr600s better than anyone, so take his word on the temp.

Usually on 600s we wire in a manual fan switch, but there's no real reason you couldn't wire it to be 'always on' as you suggest. The reason road bikes are set to cut in over 100 degrees is to boil off any water/condensation in the oil, which isn't a problem we usually have here in Oz without snow and freezing overnight temps.

I will check the temps for the fan cut in off tomorrow and let you know
600rr 07-
Fan comes on @ 104 deg and goes off when temp drops to around 102 deg

digital temp displays "- -" below 34deg between 34 and 121 shows temp

between 122 and 131 flashes the temp display and the high coolant temp warning light comes on (might want to stop the engine )

Above 132 temp flashes "132" I think we might be in some trouble here..

Remove the plug to the fan and put 12v to the fan , just to make sure the fan is working ok , and also check the voltage to the fan at the plug . If no voltage to the fan then check that the relay under the seat is working.

I'm chewing up this thread.... Whoops .

Tested the fan working fine on 12v swapped the relay with a spare from the headlight but no joy. Don't have a miluti meter to test the relay atm so I'll have to get back to this in the new year.

Had to machine the carrier, spacer, and boss/pocket so the carrier would move 8mm closer to the wheel. ( Wheel is off a CBR600)

Note- bearings will be replaced for final assembly so didn't remove them for machining as they are required for mocking up etc...

Chased around electrical bullshit all weekend on the ZX10r trying to figure out why it blew a couple of main fuses. Completly wasted my time found nothing except the fact the battery in my bike is for a 250 and has just over 1/2 the recommended cranking amps. Although it is actually in really good condition but ill be trying to find a bigger one

Also noticed a not too lovely sound coming from the starter motor? Guessing this is something I should try and rectify immediately. Vid of not nice sound below.

I do suspect I'll have to pull the starter out and have a look at it. Just really trying to avoid it as it's kinda annoying and time consuming removing throttle bodies and things. While not the hardest work there's a lot of connections and things which takes me a while to do and make sure I've done right, especially with the bazzaz plugged into everything in the universe and having not gone that deep into the 10 before.

Looked it up in service manual but I couldn't find it. What torque should I do it up to and is it Left hand thread? Can I get green ones from Officeworks? Sounds like something they could supply :P

Carl-52
11-01-2016, 07:58 PM
Its universal dual thread with the security head bolts on it. Its designed to never wear out and be tamper proof but they always seem to run out. I run the reds from bunnings for better throttle response but Stu runs the greens you can get from the YEC supplier that are the real trick deal. they are .2 mm wider so you get less of a power hit.

Moved into the new house a couple of weeks ago and finally sorted the garage so the bikes can come home. Had to grind the floors and epoxy them and waterproofed the walls to keep her nice and dry.

the other thing thats bugging me now, is the Master Cylinder I got from Tim SBS on facebook, is weeping brake fluid at the bleed nipple. Already messaged him about it, and he said to see if there is anything that could be stopping it from seating properly, and suggested take the nipple off and have a look.
Well I did that, but couldn't see anytjing that would constitute a leak, so I sprayed it wil brake cleaner an dried it off, an reinserted the nipple, re-bled the system, and cable tied front brake lever on (to add pressure).
After dinner I check it again, and it was still weeping, but not as bad, but still weeping nonetheless.

Nothing massive, but I'm bored and thought I'd share the piccies. Threw on the World SBK sticker that came with it, and took some shots of the nice blue the titanium exhaust is turning.
