Probably better to paint than the wrap for a track bike.I'm guessing the wrap would be more of a pain to patch up.

Had a look at the back end of the race bike after the ding.
Decided to do some lasering to see what exactly I was dealing with....
http://i.imgur.com/3dh9BII.jpg
Usefullly there was an unused and, most importantly, unridden R6 in the workshop too so I set about comparing measurements, levels and angles etc. to the factory tolerances.
http://i.imgur.com/Gv160of.jpg
Happily the comparisons came back TO THE MILLIMETER! I then set about lasering the axel to see how she looked...
Not quite right. It's not too easy to see on the photo, but the axle just wasn't level. it turned out to be the axle block/chain adjuster.
It was really only holding together with a shard of metal and the adjuster bolt had a bit of a bend to it. Best place for the adjuster is bin...
http://i.imgur.com/L1DymHc.jpg
The new drivetrain is here and I've ordered some new adjusters so when they arrive, the next step will be to re-assemble it all with the new wheel and the drivetrain before checking over again to make sure we're all good to go.

Yeah kinda, the pegs are also cut so the outer 1/3 will shear / break away and with some luck leave the inner 2/3 to finish the race. Doubt this will be a issue for me, when I bin them I seem to do a proper job with some good air.

It locked in gear a couple of weeks ago, so I had to throw a spare engine I had (that I was hoping to rebuild one day) in for this weekend. The only problem is the Powercomander has crapped out, so I have to run it without it this weekend. It was corrupted and had a shit map in it anyway, so hopefully it won't be too bad without it.

With my first weekend of testing out of the way i have to say i am totally impressed by the product. The new engine in my R6 has run hot for the last 6 months, averaging 98-100º in most races. With the new Radiator fitted i just spent the weekend testing and found it to be now running consistently between 78-84º. That includes a day of testing in 34º temperatures. Brilliant result !!!

Oooo, fancy!! That would be unreal data to have. And would edjumacate people better about how water temp does not equal oil temp. "Yeah, I warmed my bike up to 60 degrees on the dash first thing in the morning, then gave it the berries!" Oh, good one; that will promote engine longevity...... ;)
It'd be great if you could share the results :)
Indeed! water does not equal oil :P
Will share the results if you're interested - earlier RSV4 engines in SBK form had issues with oil foaming and extreme heat so will be monitoring this closely...

It would be great to know.
Interestingly the 09 Factory runs very hot compared to the 2013 R. I haven't yet worked out why, as the R feels slightly more powerful (bugger all in it though, now I've got the Race map ECU in the 09). The R will sit at 86 all day, even in 40 degree heat, whereas the 09 is at 98-100. Odd. The radiator in the R is the massively bent and straightened one, so cooling would be way less. The 09 rad is in mint condition.

The reason is because of the engine casing.
In 2012, they revised the engine casing and changed the bearings over to roller bearing, they basically enlarged the breathing holes at the bottom of the cylinder and also enlarged the crankcase breathing holes in the bottom of the case walls, in combination with the new roller bearings on the balancing shaft etc this reduced friction and reduced heat. The new cases allow the engine to breath far better which increased power by 4hp. This is why the earlier engines in SBK form used to overheat the oil and foam it.
Ive got photos of both types of casings somewhere.
You can modify 09/10/11 casing to bring it up to 2013 specs with new roller bearings and a dremel to open up the ports.

How the heck did you get your hands on a RSP40?!? And when do the TRVP25 forks arrive?
hahaha :P TRVP25 ... maybe, but not now. That would mean new clamps, new brake calipers, custom axle yada yada... I just had some Ktech SSRKs put into my current forks and I really haven't been able to fault the forks or their feel with the IMA clamps.

All that just for gear position data logging???
Na, one is the 350degree gearbox potentiometer (in plastic bag), the other is the Acquisition system which provides Deutsch Autosport inputs for Front/Rear Suspension travel, Front/Rear Brake Pressure, Load Cell sensors for the auto blip and Oil Temp.

Seems the shoulder injury is more complex than they first thought. At physio twice a week now, with exercises every day.
Worst case is more surgery, best case is a few more months of physio.

Real men don't bitch out and get the pussy twin turbo 2.5L V6. They get the auto-only NA V8 so they can do a manual conversion to go with their supercharger. They then realise that motorbikes are a thing that exists, and forget they even own a soarer for a couple of years. Then they drive it, to commute, because they crashed all their bikes.
That's what *real* men do

I can see your problem right there. That is in fact the movement from a Franck Muller Aeternitas Mega 4, known as the most complicated wristwatch ever built.
Take your Soarer in to See Nickolas Hacko at Culwulla Chambers in Castlereagh St in the city. He is a master watch repairer and watch designer who can probably sort your problem for you.

I got the tricolour, aka the good colour scheme. I'm not even going to change the can, stock one sounds mad as is... plus everything I've read suggests that power commanders etc are a bit of a waste of money unless you need to tune for a new exhaust. And it has more torque.
Electronic damping is amazing, riding on shiiiiithouse torn up roads (gardeners road near canal road) and it just is so solid and planted, unbelievable. Did I mention that there is more torque for more wheelies

Hey nick, yeah mate the 30mm ohlins... So this is what i have read, but also read that some say they are good.
I am thinking about not getting the ohlins put in and selling them and then buying the ktech carts. I saw you can get the carts and valves as a kit at a fair price. They have about 3 different versions though obviously increasing in price and a from memory there where 20mm and 25mm versions.

The 20mm Ktech are the gas-pressurised jobbies. Very nice, but out of my price range. I got the 25mm open (conventional) carts. They took a bit of dialling in, like anything.

Come to think of it, our newest member HYPE is about the only person I know to get the 30mm Ohlins to work. Maybe he can comment?
I have 30mm carts. Zeno V3. My bike goes wherever I want it to with great ease and comfort. It also has Zeno TTX V4ish

An executive summary of what Wetty is trying to say is.... you get what you pay for. Or better yet, the bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the happiness of a low price is forgotten.
The verbose version is: ah, I see you have gone with a Chinese-made fairing set, rather than a locally-produced set such as my own Wet4U brand, or a set from our awesome site sponsor, Superbike Source (which, although also made in China and thus very competitively priced, has higher quality and better support than many so-called bargains available on ebay). The usual problem with such a purchase is that it might seem like a bargain, but problems can arise, such as how to mount the side fairing panels to the unique Suzuki side mounts. In instances like this, it should be borne in mind that whilst Chinese make exceptionally good food, they are not as well-known for making high-quality motorcycle race fairings.
Do you have the OEM side mounts you could use?
Craig

Hahaha.... Point taken [emoji106] I have seen and have much respect for the wet4u and superbikesource race glass (the R6 will get nothing less) however just trying to fit what I've got to move the gixxer on. I still have the OEM fairings so is it a case of cropping the plugs and fitting them to the glass I have? ....and yes, they do make some amazing food hahaha [emoji501]

Doesn't matter what fairings you have they all bolt there on the gixxer. Most people use zipties I found a place that did larger wellnuts after googling.
Or ask dan he has a rivetnut jobbie

Depends on the bike but not everyone bothers to mount up that point. I guess if you crash you want as many points mounted as possible.

Starting spare bike before an oil change ... before a big drive to MacPark for the Masters this weekend (and the 1st National BEARS for the year) and "POP" the fuel return line connector at the tank broke... bloody things only 13 years old ... so taking a roady as a rolling spares kit for the race bike - not worth driving 13+hours and not having a working bike
yeh har MacPark (here a link to some bears stuff there - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycJURsUeXs0 ) great fun track ... think flatish Broadford (back straight has bends)

Buy it from OS. The best guys i have found are Auto vinyl solutions.
3M prices in Australia are marked up to the tune of 400%.
They have an eBay store and their own shopfront as well. Stay away from the HN product. It relays shite.
