I wont show before and after pics because it will make me sad at how much I'm spending to get it all fixed up. Its actually not that bad

I came off on at the 4 hour enduro race at wakefield park after Nelso's bike blew up and spat oil all over turn 10.

My bike slid into Dan's bike as well. Not too bad damage, come in fix it up and went out again. The rain decided to spoil the party and went down into 5. That just made everything that was already damaged worse.

Was not the best of races as I came in first in D grade 600 on the Saturday. Pretty happy with the efforts this year so far considering its my proper first race season where I didn't bin it on the qualifying session.

Bike came back and I started work straight away. Stripped it all down and lucky to find that the GB covers came without damage! Score!!

List of things broken;
fairing stay
clip ons
rear rim has a dent
rearset pieces
and some fairing damage

Marshy's clip ons does the job and no hesitation to order 2 replacement sets! They didn't snap on impact but bent instead which is good!
http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd451/chubb35/20130808_182854.jpg (http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/chubb35/media/20130808_182854.jpg.html)

Dent in the rear wheel.. Off to Alderton's to get repaired. Rim from metro cost $350!
http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd451/chubb35/Chubbs%20R6/20130808_182903.jpg (http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/chubb35/media/Chubbs%20R6/20130808_182903.jpg.html)

Got a spare set of rims for the R6 as well off ebay with discs and cush drives! :tea:

My tyre warmers were burning out as well. They were the non digital Kaneg ones.. I wonder if I should buy another set from Pete or just get ones like Kelly has which are the Emtek ones that seem to work fine and decent-ish materials.

Fairing stay off the Baxter's Engineering to get welded whilst I ordered a china made stay. For $50 bucks and $30 to weld, can't go too far wrong..

Ordered replacement bits from IMS for the Gilles tooling rearsets. Beauty about these are you can order individual pieces to fix whatever that is broken.

Also spoke to Stewie from SW Racing. My stock suspension components are not quite keeping up anymore. Bit the bullet and dropped some coin for these
http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd451/chubb35/Chubbs%20R6/440458419_o.jpg (http://s1220.photobucket.com/user/chubb35/media/Chubbs%20R6/440458419_o.jpg.html)

Now we wait and hopefully will be back out on the track in 2 to 3 weeks time! I've booked in for more Bernie Hatton's coaching in September! Looking forward to that!

What year/model is your R6? I remember buying a CF faring stay for mine for $110 but it turned out to be for the 08 (mine was the 06) and it didn't fit on the farings... it was light as though.

Believe it or not sold it not too long ago... I had on ebay for ages and no one ever bought it. Had it on the sister site and etc... not a bite. Same thing on FX. Then I put it on ebay and it sold in like 2hs! Go figure.

You need to install a relay to trick the ECU. I've done it on mine. When in back on my computer ill find a link explaining how to do it and post it up.

Thanks Dan, I am a retard with electrics, I bought a rocker switch intending to do the fan mod..
plastic bag from jaycar remains unopened. still trying to figure out how to get rid of my LH switchblock

I just went through that link and it solves both of my problems. I will give it a go next week (I have already paid for Friday so actually want to make it out on track)

mechanical stuff doesn't bother me however (go figure) I rebuilt my RS125 gearbox with a haynes manual but wiring a switch = a big no-no

Stewie called and said my forks are getting done tonight and I've asked him to pretty please post it via express so I can try to get in on the upcoming ARDC day.

Can't wait to try the new bouncy bits and the new tyres..

Gonna be a good day if I can get in on the Friday to set up my bike since it will be a lot quieter

I don't think at any point it renders the bike unstartable so I would recommend giving it a bash and see how you go - especially if the other option is only 75% power!

Yeah getting used to bouncy bits that actually work and the new 180/60 tyres.

I got a 2.09 at the full circuit at the ARDC day. Not fast by any means but its a huge improvement on the 2.18s I got previously.

Stewie has great aftersales service (etc like calling at 9.00pm the night before a track day!)

works very very well and solid feel from the front end.. and its cheaper than ohlins and what zeno wanted to charge me

Mr.Ed
01-12-2013, 03:53 PM
Wetty puts them there 'cause he runs the KIT Ecu and that's where Kawasaki tells you to put them... and they don't let you put the rectifier anywhere else either 'cause the the lead on the race harness is just not long enough.

chubb
01-12-2013, 04:21 PM
ahh fair enough..

well if the bike does go down on the left hand side at least its not going to impact the rectifier like it did before.

I thought of putting it on the left hand side frame but read people on Wera and R6 forums having issues with them?? don't know if its because its on the frame

Mr.Ed
01-12-2013, 04:28 PM
There's nothing wrong with having it under the tail like that... The rectifiers on the ZX6 tend to fry due to the heat and having it there seems to fix that so it can't be a bad thing.

I looked at doing a keyless ignition mod but due to the immobiliser you get on the UK & AU models I haven't figured a bypass yet.

So far the only way is to go YEC ECU and loom

take the antenna out and attach the key to it under the tank....

Just put the whole key and ignition barrel under the seat, in the 'on' position, and run an on/off switch to the bars (or wherever). Easy peasy.

The keyless plan for mine is to go RFID fob in the leathers Chubb.
There are some very easy cheap solutions and instructions online for doing the job.

That is pretty annoying... sort of like my bike having only 60-70hp when it's running the KIT ECU and not being able to know exactly why. At least last ARDC day Rhino and I (with much help from the Silver Fox himself) ruled out a few things and came up with what seems to be a logical reason. Then again, we had other logical reasons before and they all turned out to be wrong! hahahaha Back in the box it goes again till we can test it all out properly.

If I was installing mine again I'd tap the swing arm out and use some metric bots. Those imperial speed nuts and bolts are a bit of a joke, not to mention the gaping holes u gotta drill in the swing arm, I almost cried. Also the holes should be imperial also, I used the closest metric equivalent, but those nuts have a bit too much play in them.

Don't forget to carry that imperial Allen key with you at the track cause they can come loose, I got massive rear wheel chatter when I went down to first by accident, it shook the bolts loose, lost one and the fin got attacked by the chain, old sharky ain't so pretty no more.

Fucking yanks, get with the metric system.

I bought a roll of the Autotechnica 3D carbon wrap from SCE. It was for my manky tail piece. I can't compare it to 3M ... but the wrap survived my last StG off better than the paintwork.

It was a complete shit to apply if you were after a 'proper job', but with some 'fuck it' cutting and hair dryer bending it came up OKish at close range, and brilliant at 5m away.

After my 3 month track riding holiday I gotta say I was amazed at how much skill I had lost after almost no track time, and I didn't start with much to begin with!

Combining that with a new bike, loss of fitness from injury, and still not being 100% recovered ... it was a difficult couple of track days ... well not as enjoyable as it use to be.

Spilly209
13-05-2014, 09:22 AM
Yea I didn't do many track days after St George and found I lost heaps of speed and fitness. I did break my PB last week but that was with mupo suspension added, steering damper and new UK Ntec on the rear. And after a days coaching from Damian Cudlin. My point is I think with all that considered I should have shaved at least 2-3 seconds but I only shaved 0.75 of a second off my PB.

The one thing I did gain from my break was fat. 5 kg's of it. FML 😩

Over 4 nights. Mostly allowing stuff to dry and bogging is the most time consuming.

And fuck it I'm gonna wrap it.

Too lazy to prep it properly and repaint it.

I've found that the 3m stuff is easier to apply because it's a breathable vinyl of sorts that lets you deal with pushing air bubbles out really well.
It can be a complete PITA to work with if you're not in a totally zen mood. Don't rush any of it.
I must admit that when I get home tomorrow to finish "the project" I'll be getting Pro vinyl to wrap it for me.

I hear you but as i finally get to spend so,me serious hours on the Clubsport project i'm treating the wrap as a reward.
That one last thing that i couldn't be arsed doing my self after cleaning, replacing, renewing, every bearing, seal, bolt and bit on the Clubsport bike and almost the same again on my current bike.
I feel like if i need to add any more tasks to the build schedule i'll just sit on the floor, have a little man cry and throw up in my shoes for a couple of days, or at least until the bile dries up.
Its been an awesome thing to take on, but as soon as you stray from whats stock bolt on and OEM, the learning curve becomes incredibly steep.
At risk of fucking up the outward appearance of an incredibly detailed build, someone else can wrap it this time.

MEGA used to make mega bucks out of it, but not so much any more.

Luddenham will be awesome! It's just a real shame they didn't make it a kilometre longer - it could've taken over as Sydney's premier circuit! Even half a kay would've been a big improvement. That said, I'm still REALLY looking forward to it opening!!

There are rumours floating around that this might be happening anyway (what does a fleet of BMW S1000RRs cost, anyway?). And that more changes are happening for the running of the days there.

I get the distinct impression that home base isn't too pleased with how the Sydney side of the operation is performing.

There's a kart track separate to/in addition to the main circuit. The main circuit is 1.25kms long. The kart track is shorter, obviously.

They have a vague plan for Stage 2, which would extend the main circuit to 2.2kms. Had they made it 2.2 in the first place, it could've hosted major meets (Wakey is 2.2km).

Mr.Ed
04-06-2014, 01:08 PM
1.25 is probably shorter than the South circuit, no???

Plus ARDC keeps imposing new rules for smsp, so mega has to comply to those rules (concerning photography, video, timing, flexibility, tracks etc)

That there be bullshit, young'un. It is only MEGA that cares about photographers (as Keithy pays them for exclusivity). Also, it is completely MEGA's choice which track they run (GP versus Brabham). They mostly choose Brabham as they are allowed an extra 5 riders per session on track at a time (40 max on GP, 45 on full). So that's 20 extra full-fee-paying punters = $$$$ for MEGA. The available dates are allocated by ARDC, but that's it.

The timing and videoing is a condition of the MA Recreational licence that MEGA run under. No timing allowed (and by using video you could then time from the footage). You need an upgraded licence to run timing, not a Recreational one.

However, ARDC days are not run under MA (and incidentally it's not mandatory that MEGA use MA, either, unless it was part of their contract for being awarded the exclusive rights to run track days). So on ARDC days there is NO insurance from MA (anyone actually read the fine print?). So if you cark it or are totally and permanently disabled at an ARDC day, you won't get the small payout that you would otherwise get from MA (eg at a St George race meet or a MEGA track day).

So do you thing there will ever be racing on the full track????

I've raced on it before. It was just annoying - the whole new bit is single file (even though you'd think the hairpin would be a classic overtaking spot, it isn't at all. Everyone just took a really narrow entry). And the time it takes to go around on sighting and warmup laps is just silly.
