I'll probably see him next week, I'll ask him what he thinks etc.
This is gonna be a disaster, I don't know anyone that wants to do it.

and the organisers will blame the riders for not supporting the event, without questioning why the riders didn't support the event!
it's all about getting the right timing between series races and the right time of year for the tracks to be raced on, Sydney in the middle of summer is just as bad as Wakefield or PI in the middle of winter IMO

The word I've been given is that Wakefield all but handed this idea to MNSW and said that's the only track time they're getting.
Someone in MNSW agreed to it, and they passed the buck on to St George, who are left to deal with the fallout financially and reputation wise.
From what I've been told, St George have done a damn good job of making the best of the situation, especially in looking after rider safety. Apparently competition will be run in time blocks. Say an hour for bikes, an hour for cars, with either class getting time penalties if they cause delays ie a rider cause re flag and a 20 minute delay, the time gets taken out of the bike classes remaining time slots, and vice versa for cars.
Also, it is to be organized that before each bike time block, the bike meet steward/clerk of course will do a track inspection. I'm making the suggestion that a rider or two should be involved with that too.
While it's all definitely not ideal, if all goes as St George is planning, it should be decent enough as a small race event.
As it stands I think the weather might be the biggest threat!

TON always was able to get good dates at WP, and when he left they should have been jumped on by St George and or MNSW
All party's need to get together and understand how they are slowly killing the participation rates with their narrow self interest planning
Racing is too expensive and too easy to walk away from, it feels like track owners and organisers are pushing us away, which is very interesting as I know WP is nowhere near as busy or making anywhere near as much money as they were under previous management.

Agreed that the powers that be need to sort their stuff out.
I just hope St George get decent entries for this, otherwise the financial outcome might jeopardize mext year's racing activities.

MNSW is imploding too, which doesn't help. It's a dog's breakfast atm.

slow times to-day
I heard the track was cold, foggy and dirty slippery, first thing this morning.
I would have put the cars out first to clean it up.
Due to the lack of bikes the racing line grip was very narrow.
good luck tomorrow boys

So, just a normal morning at Wakefield then ;)

You all missed a fun weekend! The track was typical Wakefield, but the circuit staff did a great job of ensuring the track was safe before each and every bike session.
Other than being a bit chilly, it was a perfect weekend. And after all the forecasts of doom and gloom, the only fluid put on track was from a bike! Missed opportunity for racing by many, because of the rantings of a few.
St George officials did a great job in organising the event for us.

and with a couple of small but very critical changes it could have been so much bigger and better, I hope Wolfies mate from MNSW is listening and willing to ask and learn from their customers as to what we want and need from them to grow our sport.
March-May is a perfect time of year for racing at WP when the track is clean and rubbered up...
