Found this on the inside of the windscreen after ride at Eastern Creek on Monday. Could see any coolant leak, could this be brake fluid, How ???
Doesn't seem to want to come off very easy ???
Bike is Ducati 848 Evo Corse
Thanks

Not a huge panic it is oil - I've been there done that with my mhe - it's from the steering damper

I'm assuming that means the damper stuffed ?
I'm guessing it's non-rebuildable too ?

It'll be a blown seal. Probably replaceable. Call Rob at Well Sprung Motorcycle Suspension, or PM him on here.

Mine was (but I didn't look hard for anyone else) I dislike steering dampers so just had it packed with grease and ignored it :)

I assume that the damper would filled with oil. what ever is on the screen won't come off. Almost feels like it had eaten into the plastic ?

Nasty stuff. Try eucalyptus oil on a rag. Give it a few goes.

That's what i tried. Did nothing
Do you mean the damper fluid is nasty or brake fluid
Should brake fluid be able to get out reservoir. i thought it was sealed ?

Damper fluid is just oil. It should just smear around and wipe off easily. Brake fluid is really nasty.... if you run out of paint stripper, brake fluid makes a good substitute. And it'll eat plastic easily enough, especially if it's old plastic and a bit brittle. Check the short hose between the brake master cylinder and the reservoir. It may be cracked, or they also often can weep a little bit under the hose clamp. I often need to add a small cable tie, and/or a turn of lockwire (not too tight - you don't want to cut through the hose) to each end.

I've had brake fluid on the inside of the screen before, when a master cylinder was leaking due to a bent piston after a crash.
