I'm looking at getting a QS for my R6, and looking on the website I'm a bit confused.

Just wondering if marshy could possibly clarify a couple of things.

Firstly, it asks what length of shift rod is needed, how do we work this out? Secondly, there's an option to "add shift rod" and it has one particular option for the "R6 mod". What's the R6 mod, and if I select that, do I need to specify the length of the shift rod I need as asked in the first question?

Thanks

The stock R6 usually has 2 different thread sizes for the rod (m8 on top, m6 on bottom i think??) and the rod length depends on where you are locating your shift lever, the stock location, the giles tooling location, or any other. Marshy will clarify further i guess

Thanks Carl :)

You need a shift rod 50mm shorter than the stock rod, to make room for the shift sensor. If you have the OEM rearsets, you'll need the 'R6 mod' which includes an 8mm to 6mm adapter, plus a shift rod. If you select this option, you don't need to specify any further details. If you have aftermarket rearsets, you'll need to check a couple of things (whether the lower rose joint is 8mm or 6mm, and the length of the current shift rod).

Let me know :)

Ahh got ya. They are oem rearsets at the moment, so r6 mod it is!

I will be getting aftermarket rearsets eventually though, so what would be the procedure then? Would I have to buy some different parts to make it work?

Also, is there a difference in the annitori system for the 06 and 08+ r6's?

Depends on the rearsets. Some (eg Vortex) won't need any extra parts at all to work. Others may need just a new shift rod. Easy.

Nope. Same same ;)

Of course. Works a treat. It's definitely the cause of my 4 second improvement over the preceding track day!
