Hi members just joined and though I would say hello.
My name is Cormac and I have progressively developed a track addition over the last two years. This year it has gotten more serious, purchased a 08' CBR600RR trackie and have been out at Eastern Creek around once a month plus the odd school day.
I am hoping to improve my riding, grow larger balls and enter a D grade race with St George over the next couple of months. Also on the agenda is a trip to Wakefield to see what its like to use the right side of the tyre.
I can't contribute much by way of riding advice, but am happy to lend a helping hand, socket wrench or lockwire to anyone frequenting Eastern Creek.

Hi Cormac,
Nice pic, I love lockwire and lockwire related activities.
Last round of ST George is in a few weeks, Nov 7th and 8th. I've entered my first ever race and have no idea what's going on, but they're a nice bunch here. Only met a few of them in person, even friendlier then!
Cheers,
Nath

Howdy!! Good to have you here. You should drop in to the St George meet in a couple of weeks, to see how it all works (and say hi)!

Hey Nath,
Glad to here the race meets are approachable, the only thing holding me back from entering is lack of skill. Current PB at EC is 1:49 so am holding off entering until I am lapping consistently a bit under this on the Honda.
Good luck in Nov, will come by and cheer you on and convince myself to enter the next meet.

Marshy will definitely come and watch in November, hopefully will convince myself to enter an event next year.

Welcome mate.
49's are fine for racing at EC. may not be at the front of the pack, but you will have plenty of competition and a lot of fun.
When I started I was doing 2:01s and managed a 1:57 in my first race...you may just surprise yourself ;)

True dat!! Nothing like the 'red mist' for improving lap times!
The back of the grid is also a MUCH safer place to get to grips with race starts...:becky:

Thats awesome to know, for some reason I convinced myself that I need to be running around 1:45's to even have a go. Will come have a look in November and get myself into the first round of Clubsport 600 in 2016. Also like the idea of starting from the back of the gird. Watched some videos of starts posted by some of the members on this forum, it looks fairly hectic.

Fuck that!!! They are all crazy at the back of the pack; it's like there's no such thing as a racing line.:scared:

As Mick said, you're plenty quick enough to start out. Just don't get too caught up in the moment and let the red mist take over and you will have a heap of fun dicing with people the same pace as you.

LOL, well there can always be some creative lines going on. I do mean the starts tho.
I'd have been much better off with no riders behind me, rather than 40!

Jebus, so I was only mildly shitting myself entering my first race, now the mild is becoming less mild. Maybe if I drink enough rum tonight I will forget the nervous stuff by tomorrow...
It's a sound plan and I'm sticking to it.

Welcome! Zoidberg and I are probably the closest to you in terms of newness. Pink vest looks good on me, thanks Owen! If you come down to the November round to watch, try find the bike with copious amounts of fluro yellow and funky 50/50 wheels, that will be me :D Oh and at 49s, you wont be last.

Awesome, will be a bit less lonely at the back of the grid.
Found an article with some more encouragement to give it a go.
