Hi guys had a issue at my last track day where i was getting brake fade on the r6 pretty much by the last couple of laps of each session i had spongy lever feel where i was almost pulling the lever back to the bars. It has hel braided lines fresh oem r6 pads and motul 660 fluid which i fully bled after my first 2nd session. The bike also has performance technology levers not cheapys either. Any ideas on how to fix this ?? Any help would be much appreciated.

Complete swap of brake Fluid with Dot 4 or better as a start point from a NEW SEALED container (FLUSH TWICE even)

miss the full bled comment

Do the pads drag when you spin the wheel on the stand?

The pads only drag a small amount when i changed out the pads i cleaned the calipers and pistons real good as they where dragging quite a bit previously. I might do a full reverse bleed as i suspect there might be a tiny amount of air still trapped in the system.

Sounds like you've done everything correctly.. Hel/RBF660 should be a good combo. Did the oem pads fade before?
Never having tried them, I'm wondering if it's the, essentially street, pads getting past their best in terms of heat, by the end of the session?
Probably worth another bleed to double check. Get some Vesrahs next time you upgrade!! :thumb:

OEM Yamaha pads are pretty good. They do a race version that is better. Neither is as good as Vesrah SRJL ;)

I had an issue with Hel lines on an R6 with a Brembo MC where the banjo was very slightly wrong and the holes didn't exactly line up with the lines, which meant that only one calliper was getting full pressure and the other was getting hardly anything.

You didn't get brake fluid on the pads themselves did you? They don't like that.

How's the braking performance at the start of a session?

Braking performance was awesome at the start and for a few laps. I definitely didnt get anything on the pads. When back in the pits you could grab a handful of lever while still firm to a point it had a spongy feeling to it when more pressure was applied. I might crack the banjo and have a bit of a look. Other wise i may have to go the brembo 19rcs and Vesrah pads [emoji1]

Ah well, at least you're closing in on the issue!

Was the reservoir damaged in the crash? I would carefully check the hose from the reservoir to the m/c. It sounds very much like it is sucking air in where the hose meets either the reservoir or the m/c. I would lockwire the hose (tight, but don't cut through the hose!!) where it joins each end, in addition to the spring clip that usually holds it on.

Well the lever was covered in dirt so possibly. I also changed out the hose from the reservoir to the m/c with some tygon hose and new clamps so hopefully thats sorted. I have also checked the banjos and they were sweet. Thinking of it Marshy the clipon did take a big hit so ill definitely go over everything at that end and hopefully find the issue.

It'll be the tubing. Tygon is slightly thinner overall than normal hose, and even with the 'proper' size clips, it can suck air. Same if you're running a Brembo reservoir.

Mine did the same thing yesterday, as I'd replaced the reservoir. Not the neatest job (done at the track) but you get the idea. Problem solved!

Hopefully this will fix it original line back on and lockwired to be double safe lol http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/16/d83607e1a31fa99364b0dc7b1db32c72.jpg
