Hey everyone,
Just wondering what's the best way to get more time on the track without paying full price for a track day.
Apply for a race licence, do club days/race your mates, etc?
What would be the best licence to get if so.
Cheers.

Hmmmm...I would think it would be best to get the full race licence as this would allow you to do whatever you like.
I might be wrong, but I have only done 1 ARDC day and this was indeed a lot of time and elbow room on track.
Also, most guys were on the gas, so not much traffic to be getting pass.

Give Race Your Mates a go. Practice starts, two 15m qualifying sessions and four races.

Is it just a national licence you need?

RYM is held at Wakefield, the next one is Saturday 23 May in conjunction with the FXRRC round. AASA licence or MA licence will work.

Do you have to book or just rock up?
What about clubs and club races?

You need to send off the entry form but no need to be the member of a club. Call Gloria (number is on the formula-xtreme website) and she'll run you through it.

Nah, you're good with MA. You get a discount with ARDC membership tho.

Do they run them during the week or weekends? Is there a calendar to see when they're on?

Normally on a Friday. The TT Calendar is pretty good http://tarmactalk.com/forum/calendar.php
Otherwise it's on the ARDC/SMSP website.

Do you need a National Licence or is a MA Rec Licence enough? Cheers.

All the dates and licence info is on the website. I'd say REC licence would be fine, might be worth a call to confirm tho.

You need a Senior National MA licence. A Rec or Clubman etc isn't enough, unfortunately.

Thanks Marshy. Can you upgrade the rec lic by joining a club and paying the fee?

Yeah, but it's essentially like applying for a new licence. It's not cheaper or anything. If you've already submitted an application for a Rec licence, just contact them and explain what you want to do, and get it changed first. It's a hassle if they've already issued a proper Rec licence, and then they have to issue a new SN licence. They are pretty helpful, so long as you are nice to them! :thumb:

Not unfortunately, thankfully!
