My bro just sent me these from the UK, James is going too.
They're off to Jerez next week. Bikes getting freighted over so they can arrive like pro riders to their gear already there.
Bastards! :cry::cry:

Mate, we are pro riders!! ;)

Definitely a treat to have your bike ready sitting in the paddock upon arrival. I could get used to that.
Pretty sure no one forgot to bring anything either!

The trip was EPIC! Every aspect was awesome. Track, facilities, weather, people, hotel, food...everything!!
This is the first of many Euro days. Compared to Uk days.... actually ... not comparable!

I will post some vids shortly. Here are some photos from the weekend. Pete Wileman is the photographer.

Superb, really glad you had fun. I knew you'd love it compared to UK days.
You're still a dick for showing the CBR6 a better time than I can, next time I'm nicking it when you're in the toilet having a racer's poo.

That's fucken TOPS!!! What a circuit! The data fell a bit behind the vid at the end, but having the lean angle is very very cool.

James, looking good mate! But you do need to work on your apexes. There's 5 secs a lap right there.

Ignition KEY ...you can buy pretty much everything else

Yeh, annoying that. I'm not totally convinced this is actually the data to go with those laps :)
Saying that, this is the first time I've done multiple laps rather than just one fastest so it's possible there's a bit of error at the start/finish line that worsens with every lap.

The lean angle is calculated based on GPS speed and rate of turn rather than measured so it can't differentiate between bike lean and body lean or, as James pointed out, camber.
It probably exaggerates things a bit but it'll be there or thereabouts and still useful for comparison/coolness.

That was my first thought, although it's dead on for the first lap or so.

Ahhh, I see. I was just talking to Owen, wondering how you calculated it. That makes sense.

Are you an AIM Solo user Marshy? It's trivial to add if so . . .

Any logger that can produce a CSV of the data can be turned into a video overlay like the above.

SoloDL data is even cooler as it can hook into the bike, here's the overlay from my best lap from Jerez last year (before I added the lean gauge to the script).
Includes RPM (so you can derive gear), throttle angle, TC correct and more:

Glad you like the vids peeps!

Take it as incentive to get yourselves to a euro day!

Marshy - OH... I know!! I was hitting all the apex's... just not on the same lap! haha
After reviewing footage I reckon next time I should be bang on. On a few of the corners on the I tend to have my head where the wheels need to be. Many times would turn in only to say to myself "ahh too late" or "not hard enough" etc. So I know exactly what I'm doing wrong - which is probably more annoying than not knowing.
We walked the track on the 2nd morning. The knowledge from the Scottish, who have been there a few times, really helped understand the track a whole lot better and provided the mojo required. I recommend doing this at every track if possible!!

haha yep, what a dick!!
So as it turns out I forgot I had my spare key in my helmet bag all along! IDIOT.

Simon, I'm dead keen to explore this further with you, but I've run out of energy tonight! I'll get back to you.

I'm using a couple of different XT Racing models at the moment, and I know they output a csv file. I'll need to have a bit of a look and see what's actually in it. I'm keen for a direct CAN interface on the next one.... I was looking at a Solo DL, but a possible new bike might possibly have some built in capability, possibly, so I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. I do like the look of the SmartyCam!!
